Remember when we discussing the 50 years jubilee? And how some people thought that people were living long long time? Well, in Genesis 6:3, God flatly says, after decimating the whole earth with rain, that man’s days should only be one hundred twenty years.
As an aside, it’ll be interesting to see if science can increase our years beyond one hundred twenty as a standard.

Yes, I actually looked up the same passage too when I got home because I remembered reading it before.

I don’t know if it’s legit; it’s the internet, after all. I have doubts about the 125-year-old, but the woman who lived to be 122…? What are the implications if this is true?
Interesting story. I wonder, too how this story fits into Genesis 6:3, about God limiting man’s days.
Of course, this 125-year-old person might have counted “wrong” – which begs the question: what units are we dealing with? Has the concept (or the standard of measuring) of a year changed from Genesis to now? (Remember, the Hebrews have a different calendar system, and in the Western world, we’ve changed to the Gregorian system within 500 years or so.)
Even if there were no “problematics” with measurement standards, I wonder if this Genesis passage is figurative (the number 40 has been used like how we say “a couple”, “several”, etc.) Of course those who take the Bible very literally have a huge problem with these kinds of interpretations… Does anyone have a good commentary to bring some clarity?
